About Us

Who We Are

We are primarily a Christian radio ministry situated in Nuku’alofa, in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Our ministries are led and staffed by local leaders, and governed by a mostly Tonga board with International representation.

The individual’s new relationship with Jesus Christ is also very contagious. Listeners hear the joy and passion of their neighbours talking over the radio about learning to follow Jesus, and they can see the changes in their lives. This way, listeners are themselves drawn in to seeking fellowship with these ‘people who are different’ outside of their own church’s programmes.

Our workers are trained to foster this, by running new believer’s classes and planting bible studies in people’s homes. And so we have a growing pool of local believers, reaching out to their neighbours, finding their place of Christian service in their community, and some of whom are trained into ministry on the radio.

1988 – It was the desire of HM King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV to have a Christian Radio for Tonga

1988 – Ministry founded with the approval of Prime Minister Tiu Pelehake

1993 – The first broadcast was made on 4 July 1993, the birthday of HM King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV

2001 – We have continued to broadcast from Fangaloo Houmakelikao to the present day

2020 – Our current building is beyond repair and we are praying for a new building

2022 – We have moved into our new building and planning to extend our broadcasts further across Tongatapu, Ha’apai and Vava’u

What We Believe

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and therefore is infallible and entirely trustworthy, and is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who is God revealed in human form, and we believe in His virgin birth, and His sinless life, His miracles and His atoning death.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, in His personal return, to consummate God’s Kingdom, and in God’s judgment of the world.

We believe that all have sinned and are therefore under God’s condemnation and are separated from Him.

We believe that redemption from the penalty and the power of sin is possible only through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective for individual sinners, granting them repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and enabling believers to live holy lives and to witness and work for Christ.

We believe in the resurrection of all people, leading to eternal blessing for the believers and eternal punishment for unbelievers.

We believe that every believer is baptised into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, and is responsible for keeping unity of the Spirit by loving one another with a pure heart.

  1. We will present a clear explanation of the Great Commission with particular focus on discipleship and individual fruitfulness of every believer for Jesus
  2. We will seek to demonstrate and build the Kingdom of God with particular focus on a fruitful community of true believers (the Body of Christ) regardless of individual church affiliations
  3. We will emphasis salvation by Grace alone as the free gift of God, and the importance of works of faith and righteousness to demonstrate the reality of our new life in Christ
  4. Our ministry grows and changes according to the needs and opportunities the Lord leads us to meet. And according to the gifted people He calls to serve with us
  5. We are committed to partnerships with local churches and organisations with similar values to ours
  6. We will be sensitive to local cultures
  7. We will be responsive to, and supportive of, the work the Lord is already doing in local churches
  8. Local people are the best people to reach and disciple their own community
  9. Radio hosts are personally interactive with their listeners and with the needs of their community
  10. Radio programs will emphasize local content and be easily understood and applied
  11. We will not be involved in politics. When we comment on justice and righteousness, we will emphasis the loving and gracious character of God and the clear teaching of Scripture
  12. Listener follow-up and discipleship (including outreach and practical helps) cannot be separated from the radio’s ministry of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  13. Ministry is freely given (without charge, without holding back) to all who sincerely seek it
  14. Ministry multiplies away from the centre

  1. All activity is measured by the life and ministry of Jesus Christ as seen in the Bible
  2. Our Statement of Faith is accepted by all mainstream Christian church denominations. All workers and program contributors must accept it as their personal basis of saving faith, as well as Christian belief and practice
  3. Prayer is essential
  4. We will seek to discover and support what God is already doing in the community
  5. Our ministry will only develop according to the gifts of the people God brings in
  6. The love and power of God needs to be seen and experienced, not just talked about
  7. Spiritual ministry will only flow from godly lives
  8. Our workers are our “family” and we are our “brother’s keepers”
